Integrated Youth Empowerment

In Cameroon, we scout for opportunities to engage in strategic partnerships on youth entrepreneurship, developing and disseminating communication products intended for youth, to raise awareness of the rights and benefits from green entrepreneurship for sustainable development.

We are setting up or strengthening incubator schemes for entrepreneurship and facilitating access to youth champions who receive support as rallying points for age-appropriate young people (aged 15-34 years as defined by the national policy) and their networks. We intend to engage with partner institutions to develop capacity of youth and networks on Education for Sustainable Development, green entrepreneurship, sustainable leadership, association’s management, HRBA, communication and scaling up methods

To support underprivileged groups (youth, women and children) within the communities on health issues, the environment, social justice & peace, and wealth creation, and to provide capacity building for improved livelihoods using a community-centered approach and advocacy.

Challenges for youth in Cameroon

Despite this demographic advantage, youth in Cameroon face a number of challenges, compromising their socio-economic potential. Some of these challenges include Unemployment, poverty, and; lack of access to basic social security services, just to name a few.

Youth empowerment programs can generate better jobs in the informal sector, improving the prospects of youth regularly contributing to social security schemes available to the informal sector. With this in mind, the government of Cameroon has focused on developing policies and programs that seek to accelerate the socio-economic empowerment and integration of this vulnerable group of people.
